A young girl named Candice White who was left on the doorstep of the "Pony Home", an orphanage, when she was just a baby. The sisters took her first name from a doll she had in her basket, with the name "Candy" on it, and her last name from the snowstorm she was rescued from. Life is quiet and happy.. or.. as quiet as life can be with Candy around. She has a penchant for getting into trouble, climbing trees and tussling with the best of them. However, tragedy begins to strike.

As the long-awaited summer holidays begin, Candy and her friends go hiking in the mountains. However, a heavy rainstorm interrupts their leisure, making them hide in the forest. After the rain has stopped, the friends are ready to proceed, but Candy gets herself into some serious trouble when she encounters a cute bear cub.

Bravo has put into development Candy, a one-hour drama from Ben Cory Jones, currently a writer on HBO’s Insecure and WGN America’s Underground. Ross Fineman (Amazon’s Goliath) is aboard as executive producer of the project, which hails from Universal Cable Productions. The plot centers on the youngest and first African American female mayor as she navigates the treacherous political terrains of one of America’s most violent and poorest cities while balancing her marriage and an illicit affair. The city, the school system, a group of disenfranchised high schoolers and Candy are all in varying degrees of crisis, putting her and the city’s future in jeopardy. She will either become a player on the big stage, or die trying.

An art film by Per Arnoldi about a wide range of things with redundant, non-functional ornamentation and banal beauty: Cakes, candies, lollipops, mechanical toys, slot machines, paper hats, masks, noses, fireworks, streamers, artificial flowers, pranks, flags and much more more. It is terrific that such ornate things are produced, on top of that by machine, and add appetizing and purchase-promoting properties to them. And in terms of beauty, this very banality can be accepted as fully as anything else. (DFI)
